BUSH FIRES.

Bush fires destroyed forty thousand acres of grass in Albury district, and two thousand bags of wheat. Melbourne, Feb. 11. A man named Jones has succumbed to injuries received whilst fighting the fires at Birrogurra. Fires are still raging in Brausholmo district. Many serious cases of burning arc reported. It is feared there has been loss of life at Myaniu, whore many houses, the Catholic Church, the sawmills, the railway property, the railway contractors’ camps, much railway property, .and a large number of stock have been destroyed. At Chomlcy Killcm’s station was devastated. Tho ladies had to take refuge in a swamp.
The telegraph lines have been destroyed in all directions.
Lord Ilopotoun has telegraphed a message of sympathy to the sufferers. Hobart, Feb. 11.
The bush fires are still burning on the hills in Queenstown district. It is reported that a child has been burned to death.
A fund has been opened for the relief of sufferers.
