THE WOOL SALES. A-SLIGHT IMPROVEMENT. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright London, Feb. 10. At the wool sales fine haired shifty scoured merinos closed at 5 per cent, and fine medium crossbreds at 5 to 74 per cent, above the closing rates at the November series. Faulties, inferior grades, are about at the November level. During the sales 95,000 bales sold for the Continent, 145,000 for the Home market, and 5000 for America. 95,000 bales were held over. Yesterday’s sales included Torara, which was sold at 6jd. MUTTON. In mutton, River Plate heavy sold at 4 l-6d, and light at B%d. The market for New Zealand mutton, lamb, and beef is unchanged. HIDES. In hides Queensland ox sold at s>£d to 5 id, cow 5d ; New South Wales ox 44d to 4i{d, cow 4 l-16d; New Zealand basils Is. Leather is unchanged. Silver 2/4 3-16, and Linseed oil 261.
