General Synod.

Napier, last night.
At the General Synod to-day the committoc appointed to investigate the subject reported that no formal compact existed with other churches with regard to the spheres of missionary work, hut ~ that Christian courtesy and consideration should be regarded. No extension of church administration should be made without tho consent of the General Synod. Tho committee on religious education reported in favor of a half-hour each day being given to Scripture lessons of an undenominational character by teachers, and that a committee bo appointed to correspond with leaders of other churches to sccuro a general agreement on tho subject. The debate was adjourned. There was considerable discussion on tho proposal to establish a Maori girls’ school at Auckland—on the lines of those at Napier and Gisborne, as a memorial of the late Quoen, at a cost of 1110,000. The debate was adjourned. At the evening sitting of tho Synod allocations to various dioceses were mado as already telegraphed in the roport of the trust committee. • The Synod went into committee on the Bill for the trial of Bishops.
