Savings Quotas
Two hundred and ninety-nine places throughout the Dominion, including all the principal centres, obtained their national savings quotas last week. Consistently good returns have been recorded since the beginning of the financial year on April 1, the number of places obtaining (heir allotted amounts each week being greater than in the corresponding weeks of the preceding year. At 25 places the full year s quota has already been subscribed. “Lighthouse” I’ostagc Stamps A new issue of special postage ;■ tamps for use by the Government Life Insurance Department will be introduced on August 1. The issue, which comprises seven denominations, each i:i two colours, is in the nature of a pictorial series drpicdng a number of New Zealand lighthouses as well as the famous !i<idy.stone lighthouse in the Finish Channel. Ail the designs were pi'CDared by Mr. .1. Berry, Wellington, who has designed many other New Zealand stamps.
