Patriotic Appeal
Sir,—Per medium of your columns, I would like to place on record my committee’s thanks and appreciation for the wonderful help it had in the last-minute campaign for the £4OOO patriotic appeal. The public in the main responded particularly well and lady helpers and firms acting as receiving depots, were 100 per cent, in their efforts. This seven-day appeaj was a rush effort and does not mean that the Gisborne zone committee has done all the work —far from it —as others have been working for weeks past. Some ladies have spent many hours every week since the appeal commenced and this committee feels confident that during the coming year it will have their help and guidance. The press, as usual, has been a tower of strength. There is much still to be done and there must be no let-up. WALTER D. MORLEY, Chairman Gis. Zone Committee.
