CONSPIRACY CHARGE
MACHINE-TOOLS DEALS EX-OFFICIALS ACCUSED (11.30 a.m.) WASHINGTON, Aug. 31. The Justice Department announced that the £rand jury had indicted two dismissed War Production Board officials, Robert Rhoads and Ralph Glaser, and three dealers in used machine tools on charges of conspiracy to defraud the Government and interfering with the prosecution of the war. It alleged that Rhoads and Glaser sold an option on machine .tools at a personal profit of £7500 and agreed not to make a freezing order against the tools or report their existence. Glaser was hired by the British Purchasing Commission as technical adviser on the procurement of machine tools.
