RATIONING OF FOOD

BRITISH ASSURANCE HEALTH STANDARD (Reed. Dec. 30, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 29. The Minister of Food, Mr. W. S. Morrison, in an interview, said that the rationing system would not reduce the amount of food below a health efficiency standard. The sugar ration of 12oz. per person weekly, to operate as from January 8. might later be increased. Precautions were being taken to avoid a rush before rationing was introduced. The German ration was now 8J ounces a head weekly. Compulsory rationing in the last war began in February, 1918. Sugar was not included until July, when half a pound a head weekly was allowed. Control of livestock and homeproduced meat will operate from January 15.
