Record Price for Strawberries
The record price of 5s 8d a pound was paid for choice strawberries at an auction sale in Napier on Friday. It was not a shortage of the fruit that caused the price to soar, but the quality, offered, and more than 501 b. were sold at this or a slightly lower figure. Tomatoes also brought a good price, realising as much at Is 5d a pound.
