SERIOUS CHARGES
INTENT TO MURDER LAWLOR REMANDED (Reed. Dec. 23, 9 a.m.) MELBOURNE, Dec. 23. A second charge of having shot with intent to murder was made in the St. Kilda Court yesterday against J. V. Lawlor, the man who fired a shot outside the Duchess of Kent’s home in London. - Lawlor was arrested in Melbourne on December 9 and charged with having shot George Anderson Kelly, aged 32, with intent to murder him. Kelly and Leslie Giles, aged 32, were found in a St. Kilda bach each shot in the back.
The second charge preferred yesterday refers to Giles.
Lawlor was remanded on both charges.
Operations have been performed on both Giles and Kelly. The former is still very ill. The latter is progressing.
