TOLAGA FAREWELL
FINAL-LEAVE TROOPS DANCE ORGANISED GIFTS FROM RESIDENTS (Herald Correspondent.) There was a large gathering of residents in the Reynolds Hall, Tolapa Bay, to bid farewell to Messrs. B. Ellis, W. O’Connor, J. Sharp and C. Lincoln, who were on final leave from the military camps. A dance was organised in their honour by the Tolaga Bay Patriotic Committee.
A delicious supper was served by the Women’s Institute, from tablesprettily decorated with bowls of pink spring flowers.
On behalf of the residents, Mr. E. Shelton said they were proud that the guests of honour were going representing this township, and they all joined in wishing them a safe and speedy return Other speakers were Mr. McCullough. on behalf of the Rugby Union, of which Mr. Ellis was a keen member, and Mr. Morton, representing the R.S.A.
A souvenir from the residents was presented to each of the guests of honour. Mr. J. Lincoln accepted the gift on behatf of his son, who is in Napier, and Mr. * Ellis replied on behalf of his fellow-soldiers.
