CENTENNIAL SONG
AWARD IN AUCKLAND' •‘IN BLUE'PACIFIC SEA” (Pur Press Association.) AUCKLAND, this day. The award of the prize in the competition for the Auckland centennial song was announced by the Mayor, Sir Ernest Davis, as chairman of the Auckland Provincial Centennial Council. Altogether 109 entries were received from all parts of New Zealand, and the winning composition was a unison song for massed voices entitled “In the Blue Pacific Sea.” The words were by Mrs. Isabel Cluett and the music by Mr. E. Rupert Morton, both of Auckland.
The judges were Professor Hollinrake, Dr. Kenneth Phillips and Mr. Colin Muston. There was only one prize, f'. 25, donated anonymously for the purpose by an Auckland lady.
