GISBORNE CLUB TALK BY DOCTOR At the monthly meeting of the Gisborne Young Farmers’ Club, held on , Wednesday night, there was a fair ■ attendance of members, Mr. G. W. ■ Smith presiding. Tiie speaker for the evening was Dr. ; W. A. Bowie, who gave an interesting address on social diseases. At the con- ; elusion of his talk, Dr. Bowie was ac--1 corded a hearty vote of thanks. ' The treasurer, Mr. R. B. Kerr, gave 1 his monthly financial report, which Included the proceeds of the weight- ; estimating competition held at the , recent A. and P. Show. The gross : takings for the competition amounted » to £lB 6s. and after deducting prizemoney and expenses, the balance was ; forwarded to the Red Cross Society. At a committee meeting held the same evening, it was decided to cancel the next monthly meeting, the date of which was during one of the busiest times of the year. Empty caw's made £5 .18s for a pen all kiliable, and £4 19s to £5 2s for forward. Very poor conditioned P.A. sold well at £2 13s, with several pens between £3 and £4. Empty Jersey cows made £3 4s and £3 6s for those in 'forward condition.
