BREACHES OF STATUS

U.S. TENNIS PLAYERS MAKO AND SABIN OUT (Klee. Tel. Copyright-—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Dec. 8, 9 a.m.) NEW YORK, Dec. G. The United States’ Lawn Tennis Association announces that Mako and Sabin have been declared ineligible for amateur tennis because of alleged violations of the amateur regulations. It is stated that the suspension will be temporary pending final action by the executive on February 9. Both are accused of violating the regulations, firstly with receiving living and other expenses from tennis organisations for over eight weeks in 1939 and secondly with receiving travelling expenses in excess of the amounts approved by the association. The chairman, Mr. Louis J. Carruthers, said that the association had not previously decreed the temporary suspension of Tilden and others suspended permanently, but authority was granted in February to suspend temporarily.
