OBITUARY
MR. W. DAVIDSON The death has occurred of Mr. Walter Davidson. 2G Manton street, Palmerston North, at the age of 59. Mr. Davidson, who was born, in Balclutha, lived in Gisborne for 10 years before going to Palmerston North 18 years ago, and for more than 17 years had been employed by the Kairanga Meat Company. He is survived by a widow and a family of five.—Mr. William Davidson, Mrs. W. Brooks. Palmerston North, Misses Francis, Elsie, and Doreen. Davidson. Mrs. P. Bell and Mrs. F. Morrison, both of Invercargill, are sisters. The death occurred in Dannevirko Hospital recently of Mr. Frank Williams, a well-known figure in the racing World. Born in Greymouth 63 years ago, he served an apprenticeship as a jockey with the late Messrs. ,1. Green and J. Morris, at Crofton, Marton, Later he settled in Hastings. He rode for some years for the late Sir George Hunter . and also for Messrs. Gaisford, J. D. Ormond, T. H. Lowry and F. and J. Armstrong among others, being successful in a number of major events. After retiring from riding he took up farming, but later returned to racing as a trainer. He retired to live in Danne«!rke when his health broke down.
