RECREATION FOR MEN
NEEDS OF THE CAMPS CO-ORDINATING WORK (Special to the Herald.) WELLINGTON, this day. The questibn of recreation for the men in camps has been taken up by tiie Government. The needs of the camps vary greatly. For many of them recreation facilities are well developed, particularly in the ease of the permanent military camps such as Trentham and Burnham. In the newer and more isolated camps and air force bases they are less developed. Much has been dbne by private organisations and it is proposed, so far from interfering with their organisations in any way, to work through them as far as possible. There are. however, many gaps, and since no organisation exists for co-ordinating activities, it is proposed that the local physical welfare and recreation cbmmittees in areas near the camps shall be constituted as sub-committees of the provincial patriotic councils. These have the local control of the expenditure Of patriotic funds. In this way it will toe possible to co-ordinate activities and expenditure. A wider and more thorough programme of recreation should be obtained as a result.
