CORRECT TREATMENT
I'EACHERS' DISCUSSION

Mr. Henry, chief inspector of schools for the Hawke’s Bay Education Board, and Mr. G. C. Burton, child welfare officer for the East Coast district, were guests at the meeting of the Wniapu branch of tho Educational Institute, which was held at the Makarika School. Mr. A. Dobson, Tikitiki, the district president, was in the chair.
A long and animated discussion' of the adolescent Maori child, his characteristics, his treatment and suggested means of setting his feet on the right road to becoming a self-respect-ing self-supporting citizen, made the meeting take long over its usual time.
At the conclusion of the members’ discussion, Messrs. Henry and Burton addressed the meeting, expressing appreciation of the teachers’ thorough realisation of their problems and their willingness to co-operate in finding successful methods of attack. Mr. and Mrs. W. Gardiner, who entertained the members to morning tea and luncheon, were accorded a hearty vote of thanks. Those present were Mr. and Mrs. A Dobson, Mr. and Mrs. IT. Black, Mr. and Mrs. T. Murphy, Mr. and Mrs. E. Boon. Mr. and 'Mrs. A. Ferguson, Mr. and Mrs. C. Ray, Mr. and Mrs. P. Eaton, Mr. and Mrs. W. Gardiner, Mr. and Mrs. D. Norrie: Misses E. Foote. J. Archibald, IT. Haig, J. Randerson and R. Kaika; Messrs. C. Turner, F. Tritt, S. Clayton, W. Oldham, R. Gasson, G. McCulloch. W. Britten and A. Duff.
