The shortest yarding of fat cattle to come forward for years was oficred at the Storlford Lodge stock sale yesterday. The result was that best quality beasts increased and poorer sorts remained fully firm. Top cows made £8 10s to £9 14s, and lighter sorts £5 15s to £7 10s. Bullocks for line? only entry made to £lO 15s. Heifer tops went to £lO 19s and lighter pens from £8 2s Gd. The yarding in the store section was also small, with a weak demand ruling. Forward bullocks were passed at £B, empty cows made £4 10s to £4 15s. two-year steers in hardy condition £5 7s Gd, two-year heifers £4 Is. Little change was shown in the fat sheep section. A keen demand ruled for quality lines, poorer sorts easing off slightly. Prime ewes made 20s Gd to 20s 7d for tops. 17s Gd lo 18s 9d for medium quality, but lighter sorts at 13s Gd to IGs Bd. Wooled ewes went lo 22s 3d, the best wethers 23s 4d to 25s Id, with medium quality from IGs Spring lambs made 22s 9d to 245.
