Evening Wedding

Duckworth—Y oung

down ol: Pearl Sal in

Roses, carnations and lilies formed a picturesque setting in St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church, Cobden street, on Saturday evening for the marriage of Daphne Alice, elder daughter of Mrs. I. W. Young, To Karnka, and -Herbert Wolstonholme, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. J. E. Duckworth, Fox street, Gisborne.

The ceremony was performed by the Rc-v. A. J. 11. Dow, and Mr. I. Moore presided at the organ.

The bride, who was escorted by Mr. R. Cralll, an old friend of the family, looked charming in a frock ef tropic pearl satin. The bodice, fastened down the back to below the waist with tiny buttons and loops, was made with a heart-shaped neckline, and full sleeves fitting closely below the elbow and terminating in a point over the hand. The graceful skirt was vandyked to the bodice in front and swept • nin a long train cut with three deep scallops, each of which was accented wun a cluster of orange blossom and miniature arum lilies.

Her veil of pearl-tinted tulle, appliqued with true-lovers’ knots in matching satin, was held in place with a coronet of orange blossom and miniature arum lilies, and an exquisite bouquet of roses, carnations and Madonna lilies was carried.

Lovely Frocks of Amethyst Taffeta The bride was attended by Misses Lil Lyons, Errol Young, Jean Duckworth and Catherine Rowan. Each wore a lovely frock of amethyst taffetas showing a gauged bodice buttoned down the back, a square neckline, and short puff sleeves. The voluminous skirt, ornamented’ with .a band of gauging below the knees, just revealed matching shoes.

A circlet of delicately-tinted flowers made an attractive headdress, and each bridesmaid carried a bouquet of roses and carnations.

The little flower girl, Jennifer Bull, was a dainty figure in a cream satin replica of the bridesmaids’ frocks. A piquant bow of cream satin was worn in her liair. and a Victorian posy of pastel-tinted flowers completed the picturesque effect. Mr. Dick Quinn carried out the duties of best man, and Messrs. Keith Pritchard, Frank Duckworth and Tim 'Craill were groomsmen.

During the signing of the register a vocal solo was contributed by Mr. S. Rutherford.

The bridegroom’s present to the bride was a gold wristlet watch, and to each of the bridesmaids a crystal rose bowl.

Delightful Reception

After the ceremony 200 guests were entertained at a delightful reception in Le Grand Cafe. The customary toasts were honoured, and the handsome cream three-tier wedding cake, decorated with a miniature bride and four bridesmaids, was cut and dispensed by the bride. Mrs. Young, mother of the bride, was wearing a model frock of black French georgette embossed in silver on the corsage and sleeves, with a hat of matching Bangkok straw accented with amethyst flowers. Her bouquet was composed' of red and gold roses. Mrs. Duckworth, mother of the bridegroom, wore a frock of clover floral crepe satin with a navy georgette coat and a clover straw hat, a bouquet of pink and mauve carnations completing her toilette. The bride travelled in a frock of Dresden blue cloque ornamented with pin tucks and collar and cuffs of ivory lace, worn with a tailored coat to match, a navy blue straw hat and navy accessories.

The 'bouquets carried by the bridal party and relatives were the artistic work of Mrs. R. Craill, Tolaga Bay.
