Wedding at Ellerslie

Stevens— uonway liridc in Embossed Silk A quiet but charming wedding was celebrated on Tuesday in the Church of the immaculate Conception, Ellersiie, Auckland, when Miss Pauline Joyce Conway, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. S. G. Conway, of Unera crescent, Elierslie, was married to Lieutenant E. M. Stevens, R.N.V.R., eldest son of Mrs. H. L. Tempest, of Tolaga Bay, Gisborne, and the late Mr. Walter Stevens, of Ardmore. The bride, who entered the church with her father, wore a beautiful frock of white heavily embossed corded silk. Cut on slim fitting lines, it was made with a V-shaped neckline and flared skirt finishing with a long train falling from the shoulders. Her white tulle veil, which fell in soft folds to form a second train, was caught to the head with a coronet of white rosebuds, and she carried a sheaf of Christmas lilies. In attendance as bridesmaid was Miss Janie Williams, who wore a graceful model frock of cherry georgette shirred in front from neck to waist, and the skirt falling in soft, full Hares to the ankles. A pccturc hat of natural leghorn wreathed with flowers to tone was also worn and she carried a sheaf of cherry gladioli. The best, man was Mr. T. C. Conway, brother of the bride.

After the ceremony a reception was held at the Mount Eden Tea Kiosk, where tlie bride's mother, Mrs. S. G. Conway, received her guests, wearing a graceful frock of blnc-k angelskin lace and black ballibuntal hat. She carried a bouquet of crimson roses. Mrs. Tempest, the bridegroom’s mother, was in a navy blue georgette ensemble, with matching hat and carried a bouquet of golden coloured roses. The bride travelled in a navy blue ensemble, with matching accessories and fur cape.

Informal Party

The delightful party given by Mrs. I-L H. DeCosta, as a member of the hospitality committee of the Poverty Bay Victoria League, at her picturesque riverside home on Tuesday afternoon afforded the new members an opportunity ol' meeting members of the executive under very pleasant circumstances.

The guests were welcomed by the hostess and Miss A. L. Rees, president of the league.

Bowls of mixed flowers were used with artistic effect in the decoration of the drawing-room, and tea was served informally. During the afternoon Mrs. P. Barry was heard to advantage in several vocal solos, Mrs. F. Wickens playing her accompaniments. Mrs. DeCosta. was assisted in the entertainment of the guests by her daughter. Miss P. DeCosta, Miss Cohen and Miss G. Skccl.
