£230,000 For Signals
Some interesting details of the progress made with the signal and electrical branch of New Zealand railways were given by the Miiiiste, of Railways, the Hon. D. G. Sullivan, in an interview in Christchurch. The total expenditure of the signal and electrical 'branch for the year ended March 31 was £186,540, and it is anticipated that the current year’s outlay will amount to £230,000. ‘‘A number of stations in both islands have 'been interlocked, loop signals provided, and the main line crossing loops have been fitted with mechanisms for motor, operation,” Mr. Sullivan said.
