HEAVY LOSSES

GUERILLA WARFARE GERMANS IN POLAND LONDON, Nov. 24. “German losses have been considerable as a result of guerilla warfare since the official conclusion of the Polish campaign,” says the diplomatic correspondent of the Manchester Guardian.

“Fierce fighting is occurring at night-time in many districts, where bands of Poles hide all day.

“The Poles are now concealing the German dead, in order to avoid German reprisals against residents in the neighbourhood.

“The spirit of the Polish people is unbroken. The guerillas are working systematically, but distress is fearful all over Poland.

“Bodies still lie among the ruins of Warsaw, where there is no water and no drainage. “Conditions are better in Russian Poland, where there is little interference, because the Russians are attempting to ingratiate themselves with the people, instead of dominating them.”
