N.Z. AIRMAN MISSING
SERVICE WITH R.A.F. BELIEVED TO BE DEAD (Per Press Association.) DUNEDIN, this day. Advice has been received from the Air Ministry, London, by Mr. P. Keller, district public works engineer for Otago and Southland, that his son, Pilot-Officer H. J. Keller, serving with the Royal Air Force, has been, reported missing as a result of an accident and is believed to have lost his life.
Pilot-Officer Keller, who is 20 years of age, was educated at New Plymouth Boys’ High School, and his early interest in flying enabled him to secure his “A” license at the age of 18, when he was sftill at school.
He joined the Air Force last year and, after preliminary training at Taieri aerodrome and Wigram, he left for England to join the Royal Air Force in February of this year. Within a short time he secured his second navigator’s certificate and, when stationed at Thornaby-on-Tees, just before the outbreak of war, he was navigating officer for his squadron.
