INDISCRIMINATE USE

HOSES IN BOROUGH “REALLY SELFISHNESS” An appeal to householders in the borough to refrain from the indiscriminate use of hoses, was made at last night’s meeting of the Gisborne Borough Council, following a report from the borough engineer, Mr. E. R. Thomas, on the matter on similar lines to a report in the Herald last Thursday.

“It is really selfishness on the part of the people on the lower levels,” Mr. Coleman said. “We have no objection to the people watering their gardens, but we do object to people fixing their hoses and letting them go. I wish to appeal to the people to be reasonable.”
