WELFARE OF MINERS
PROGRESS IN BRITAIN PROVISION OF AMENITIES (British Onicinl Wireless.) Reed. 9 a.m. RUGBY, Nov. 21. Mr. Geoffrey Llovd, Minister of Mines, in a speech to-day at the Miners’ Welfare annual conference, expressed gratification that the welfare committee had become incorporated by Act of Parliament, thereby receiving greater powers for the furtherance of welfare work. A further cause for satisfaction was that work on the pithead baths had been continued and extended and in the diminution of war-time inconveniences, both for miners and their wives, by continuing to maintain canteens, institutes and other social amenities.
