AIR FORCE STATION
LORD GALWAY’S VISIT WOODBOURNE HANGARS SECOND NEARLY FINISHED (Per Press Association.) BLENHEIM, this day. An inspection of the air squadron stationed at Woodbournc was carried out by the Governor-General, Viscount Galway, who arrived in one of Cook Strait Airways’ machines, which were recently taken over by (lie Government. Ills Excellency displayed a lively interest in the work being carried out in the construction of the air station, progress on which lias been noticeably accentuated in recent weeks. One of the hangars is now completed and is housing a considerable number of machines. The otherhangar is well on the way to completion. Additional Hangars Provision is also being made for two additional hangars. but for . the moment the main concentration is on the completion of the second one and the finishing of a multitude of smaller buildings which make up the administration and living quarters. Carpenters are employed in scores and other trades are also well represented. especially electricians and plumbers. The whole work gives a vivid impression of the great effort being made to complete at least the principal portions of the building programme in the shortest possible time. Lord Galway in the afternoon addressed a meeting of the War Funds Council, later returning to Wellington.
