REAL IMPROVEMENT

TRADE OF BRITAIN INCREASE IN OCTOBER (Kim-. IV]. Copyright —United Press Assn.) (British Oll'ieia! Wireless.) Reed, 9 u.m. RUGBY, Nov. 18. Overseas trade returns for October, while they continue to reflect the inevitable dislocation caused by the war and the adjustment of trade to wartime control, nevertheless mark a real improvement on September.

It is expected that the November returns will show a further considerable improvement. The increase of 24 per cent in imports is particularly significant as evidence that the German attack on British seaborne trade has been held in check by the Royal Navy. In the smaller increase in exports. chief interest is attached to the rise of nearly £1,000.000 as a result of larger exports of coal.
