OUTSTANDING DISPLAY
SCHOOL FLOWER SHOW MANUTUKE SUCCESS VISITORS IMPRESSED (Herald CoiTCSliomlent.) The annual flower show conducted by the Manutuke School pupils look place in the Manutuke Hail on Thursday evening. Over 300 adults and children were present to view the magnificent display of flowers, vegetables, fruit, cooking, handwork and decorative, work.
Very favourable comments were passed concerning the considerable trouble to which the children had gone in order to make the show such an outstanding success. Particularly was this the case with respect to the vegetable section, which compared more than favourably with the display at the recent A. and P. Show.
The judges, Mesdames J. E. and K. Hepburn, and Mr. Piercy, had an arduous task, but performed their duties to the satisfaction of all. Details of the results are as follows: Senior CookingScones: G. Programme by the Children At the conclusion of the flower show those present were entertained with a programme of school activities by the children. The latter had prepared souvenir programmes for each one present. The excellence of these formed a topic of favourable discussion. Towards the close of the evening the prizes won in the flower show were presented by Mr, Piercy, who also thanked the donors of the special prizes. The Palutahi School Committee was thanked for the loan of its film strip projector and Mr. Williams for demonstrating it. The object of the entertainment was to raise money to purchase a film strip projector for the school. This was successfully accomplished.
