The exports of the United Kingdom for October wore valued at £24,622,840 against £23,087,245 in September and £42.559,996 in October of last year. Imports amounted to £61,841,464, compared with £49.924,267 in September and £79.078.903 a year ago. Re-exports totalled £1,998,146, againsi £2,370.678 a month before and £5,445,983 a year ago. The figures for the first 10 months of the year are: Imports. £1717.275,1(55, a decrease of £52,267,739 compared with the corresponding period of last year and of £21,043.827 compared with the first 10 months of 1937: exports. £361.324,170. a decrease of £27,841.236 compared with the first 10 months of last year and of £71,434.361 compared with the corresponding period of 1937: re-exports, £40,081,987, a decrease of £11.043,277 as compared with the first 10 months of 1938 and of £24.339.701 compared with the first 10 months of 1937.

The principal increases in imports j were: Iron ore and scrap, £401.000: - Cotton, raw and waste. £1,499,000; \ and rubber, £425,000.
