The action of a Scout troop leader I who permitted his-Scouts to give false j alarms to a fire brigade while returning from their weekly rally was j severely criticised by the magistrate, Mr. F. ¥'. Reid. when three boys, one | aged 15 years and the others 12 years,! appeared in the Children's Court this j morning on several charges of giving j false alarms. They were admonished and discharged. ''lt is youi' duty to stop them, rather i than to encourage them." said the | magistrate to the eldest boy. "especi- j ally in view of the position of troop leader which you formerly held and which 1 agree you were entirely un- j suitable for. If you come here again i we will make tilings warm for you. j There is a potential danger to both firemen and the public every time the ] engines are called, owing to the speed at which they travel, not to mention j the expense and trouble of sending; them out "
