1 TRAINING IN CANADA PLANS FOR NEW FIELDS PRAISE BY MARSHAL FAR-SIGHTED SCHEME (JSloc. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) (Reed. Nov. 15, 9 a.m.) OTTAWA. Nov. 14. ; It is officially announced that the landing fields -of trans-Canada Air Linos will form the nucleus of the Empire air training scheme, pending the completion of new fields.
The number needed has not been estimated officially, but it is believed it will be at least 25.
Primarily the responsibility for the establishment of the fields rests with Canada. Two aircraft and eight pilots loaned by the Ontario provincial air service are assisting the reconnaissance and survey parties.
; The air mission delegates, including I the Australian, Mr. J. V. Fairbairn, i yesterday met Air Chief Marshal Sir ! Robert Brooke-Popham. who said: “The training scheme is something the Empire can develop and Herr Hitler cannot. All those farsighted in the United Kingdom are enthusiastic and believe the scheme shows clearly the solidarity of the Empire and the contributions which the Dominions want to make to the cause.”
Sir Robert Brooke-Popham is assisting in the organisation of the scheme
