SHOWER OF BULLETS
SYDNEY WATERFRONT ACCIDENTAL DISCHARGE (Reed. Nov. 15, 9 a.m.) SYDNEY, Nov. 14. Residents of the harbour front at Double Bay, Rose Bay and Waverly, received a scare to-day when machine-gun bullets fell on their homes and in gardens and streets. Nobody has been reported injured.
An explanation of the affair came from the naval authorities, who stated that the bullets • were accidentally discharged from an outgoing cruiser while a belt was being fixed to a machine-gun which fires from four barrels simultaneously. The gunbarrels were sharply elevated and the majority of the bullets flew in a high arc.
