The Rt. Rev. H. St. B. Holland, Bishop of Wellington, aiid Mrs. Holland, who have been abroad since May, are returning to New Zealand by the Malaroa. Mr. W. D. Borrie, oi' Oamaru, has entered Cains College, Cambridge, to carry out posit-graduate research under the terms of a British Council Dominion Scholarship. Mr. L. R. Stringer has been appointed city traffic inspector by the Nelson City Council from 98 applicants. Mr. Stringer, who is at present one of the Christchurch City Council’s traffic inspectors, will take up his duties in Nelson on December 5. Mr. M. E. Bardsley, formerly a master at King’s College, Auckland, who spent three months at the British School at Athens and has been travelling extensively in Greece, has again taken up residence at Emmanuel College, Cambridge, where he is completing Ins degree in classics Advice of his promotion to the position of senior accounts clerk at the Wellington district office of the Public Works Department has been received by Mr. F. 11. Fredericks, who is at present senior accounts clerk at the Gisborne office of the department. He was stationed at Kopuawhara for six months following the inception of the Waikokopu-Gisborne railway construction work, and has been on the stall’ of the Gisborne office for the past nine
