PENALTY ON JOCKEY APPEAL BY DESLANDES (Per Press Association.) HASTINGS, this day. The Hawke’s Bay District Committee on Saturday considered an appeal under Rule 357 of the Rifles of Racing by E. Deslandes, jockey, against the decision of the Poverty Bay Hunt Club in disqualifying him for 12 months under Rule 205 K.

After considering (he appeal and taking into account the various circumstances which led to the disqualification and also Deslandes’ clean record over a period of 20 years, the penalty was reduced from 12 months to six months.
