PLACINGS COINCIDE

EXCEPTIONAL BACONERS HOOF & HOOKS AWARDS Exceptionally fine baconers but disappointing porkers were reviewed by the judge of the pig export classes, Mr. J. Barr, when they were killed at the Kaiti freezing works yesterday afternoon.

A feature of this judging was that in the baeoner class the pigs placed first, second and third on the showgrounds retained their positions on the hooks.

The placings were as follows:

Porkers

The weight range was 601 b to 801 b, and pen 1157, though a fine pig, was disqualified, being over-weight. Baconers

The weight range was from 1211 b to 1601 b, and pen 1171 was disqualified, being under-weight. Commenting on the classes, Mr. Barisaid that the porkers did not kill out as they appeared on the showgrounds, and in this respect were disappointing. The baconers, however, provided an exceptionally fine display, and in a very even lot it was difficult to determine the winners. His decisions, however, coincided exactly with those of the showground judge so far as the first three places were concerned. The H. R. .Chrisp Cup for the pig club member securing the most points in the b.aconer on hoof and on -hooks judgings was won by Mr. Geo. Brown, of the Puha Pig Club, who ruled out all opposition by securing the first prize on each occasion.
