OPENING TOURNAMENT 22 PLAYERS COMPETE Tlie Kahutia Ladies’ Bowling Club held its first tournament of the season on the Kahutia green yesterday, when 22 players took part in a fixed pairs competition. The weather was fine, but a strong wind made play tricky and upset the most carefully calculated shots. However, some close contests were witnessed and the bowlers had a mostenjo.vable day's sport. Mesdames Graham and Fischbach gained the honours in the tournament, defeating Mesdames Hanna and Davy in the final by 4 to 3. an extra .lead being necessary to decide tlie winners. The details of tlie play were; — First Round. —Mesdames Graham and Fischbach (s) 9 v. Mesdames Keenan and Corlet (s) 7; Mesdames Stevenson and S. Wilson (s) 11 v. Mesdames F. E. Wilson and Holland (a) 9; Mesdames Nicol and McLaughlin (s) 13 v. Mesdames Mcllroy and R. Jenkins (s) 10; Mesdames Harvey and MacKny (s) 10 v. Mesdames Short and Duniop (s) 9; Mesdames Hanna and Davy Us) 14 v. Mesdames Moore and Vail (s) 8; Mesdames Neenan and Hands (s), a bye.
