LODGE COMPETITION SHIELD CHANGES HANDS WIN FOR HIBERNIANS TEN TEAMS TAKE PART The second indoor bowls competition for the Foresters’ Shield, donated by Bro. H. O. Hansen to encourage friendly rivalry between Gisborne lodges, was held in the Masonic Hall last night. The trophy changed hands, being won by the Hibernians. The Druids were the host lodge, in view of their win on the first’-occasion, and prior to the start Bro. J. Watt, C. presented the shield to the Druids, on whose behalf the trophy was accepted by Bro. Allwood. Great interest was displayed by tiie competitors, and 10 teams took part. The final between the Druids and the Hibernians provided a great finish* to the evening. During an interval the visitors were the guests of the Druids’ Lodge at supper, and at the close of the contest the shield was presented to' the winning team, the gathering breaking up with three cheers for the donor of the trophy. The finaj produced a great finish, the last bowl in the game being the deciding factor. When the skips went down the Hibernians were lying well, but Craig with his first bowl altered the position, and lay two. Haisman just missed with his first, and Craig attempted a block with a short one. The position looked bad for Haisman, but lie essayed a fast one and succeeded in scattering the head, the jack resting nearest to one of his team’s bowls, the game resulting in a win for the Hibernians by four points to two.
