AERIAL FIGHTING
YOUTHFUL PILOTS BRITISH SUCCESSES NAZIS PUT DOWN CHASE OVER FRANCE (Reed. Nov. G, 9 a.m.) LONDON, Nov. 4. The Daily Telegraph says that three Royal Air Force pilots were responsible for bringing down two German planes over the British lines as was reported on Friday. The British pilots were aged 22, 23 and 2G years old. respectively.
Two Heinkel bombers were sighted at a height of 20,000 ft. Six British fighters went up.
One overtook a bomber after 40 minutes of Hying at full speed. The British fighter coolly held its fire .ill the range was perfect and then loosed a full burst from the synchronised guns. The pilot saw bullets patter the enemy's fuselage, from which smoke emerged. One propeller warcut out. The landing wheels dropped and the plane started to spiral to earth. It crashed into a hedge.
The 19-year-old German pilot survived. Two members of the crew were seriously injured. Two other British pilots overtook the second bomber after a chase for 100 miles. There was a brief exchange of fire. Then the German plane nosedived amid a plume of smoke and crashed in Belgian territory.
