GERMAN BLOCKADE

CONTRABAND SEIZURES MORE THAN 500,000 TONS (British Official Wireless.) Reed. 12 noon. RUGBY, Nov. 3. The Allied contraband control organisation has now intercepted and detained well over 500,000 tons of contraband suspected of being destined for Germany. French official figures published on October 12 announce the seizure up to that date ot ’50,000 tons. The British figures for he fortnight from October 14 to October 28 show that 03,000 tons were intercepted. which raises the British total for the first eight weeks of the war to over 400.000 tons.

Fuel and petroleum products detained amount to 8”,540 tons. This includes 12,000.000 gallons of petrol. By far the greatest percentage of consignments detained consists ol materials directly applicable to military use.
