PRESUMED SAFE

FREIGHTER COULMORE POSITION UNCERTAIN (Reed. Nov. 4, 9 a.m.)/ NEW YORK. Nov. 3. United States naval officials were unable last night to confirm the report that the submarine attacker had been eluded by the British freighter Coitimore, which was reported on Wednesday to have wirelessed for help, stating that she had sighted a submarine some 080 miles due east of New York. The naval officials assumed, however, that the Coulmore was safe. They stressed that she would not use her wireless if a submarine were in the vicinity.
