U.S. HELIUM BARRED
N.Z. HOSPITALS’ SUPPLIES
ARMS BAN EFFECT
(Reed. Oct. 26, 2.10 p.m.) NEW YORK, Oct. 25.
The Washington correspondent of the United Press states that the application of the arms embargo on belligerent countries has prevented the shipment of £4l worth of helium gas to New Zealand hospitals, £3l worth to Canadian hospitals for the treatment of asthma, pneumonia and other respiratory ailments. The Act controlling the sale of helium gas provides that none can be shipped to nations to which the arms embargo has been applied.
