RESOURCES OF EUROPE

TRIBUTE BY MR. EDEN

TALKS BY MINISTERS

PLANS FOR LIAISON

(Elec. Tel. Copyright—United Press Assn.) j (Reed. Oct. 28, 2 p.m.) LONDON, Oct. 25.

Declaring that nobody in the. Empire had any doubt of the outcome j of the war, the Dominions Secretary, j Mr Anthony Eden, said in a broadcast j address that the acceptance by the [

Dominions of the pooling of resources for the fullest development of the! , Empire air power showed that Britain’s collaboration with the; Dominions was already producing;: practical results. “It is scarcely possible to exaggerate the influence this collaboration j will have on the course of the war,” j said Mr. Eden. Germany could not! influence the air development.; whereby Britain was assured of a i constant supply of pilots and other; personnel of the highest standard. j

Herr Hitler had lost the initiative! on the Western Wont. Russia and I Turkey blocked the road to the east, j The attacks by air against the; British Navy and merchantmen had • failed utterly in their purpose. The' submarine, by comparison with the j last war, was an indecisive weapon, j The total merchantmen sunk was I below 1 per cent of the British ion-j nage.

It is semi-officially stated that the Dominion Ministers are expected to arrive shortly, accompanied by military and economic advisers, some of whom will remain in London to ensure complete Empire liaison. The talks will be informal and are expected to last about a fortnight and to include discussions with the Ministers of Food and Supply, and the president of the Board of Trade, and visits to munitions factories and defence training depots.

Jt is emphasised that the war efforts of the Dominions have caused the greatest satisfaction. Ships of the Dominion navies are co-operating with the British Navy far from their normal bases. Other activities include local defence, the preparation of forces for overseas service, and receive high tributes.
