GENEROUS OFFER
HOSPITAL OBSTETRICIAN “My colleague’s sacrifice in the interest of his country is not to be an opportunity for my gain,” wrote Dr. W. R. Wade in notifying the Taranaki Hospital Board that he would be pleased to act as obstetrician at the hospital in place of Dr. G. 11. Thomson, who had been granted leave of absence without pay, but only on condition that the salary at the rate of £IOO a year was paid to Dr. Thomson’s account and not to his own account.
Members of the board slated that the gesture was remarkably generous. It showed the spirit of co-operation that existed between doctors at the hospital, said Mr. P. E. Stainton, chairman.
