SHIPPING FREIGHTS

INCREASED CHARGES GISBORNE EXCLUDED No increase has been made in the shipping freight charges between the main Dominion ports and Gisborne, according to information received in Gisborne to-day. A message from Wellington yesterday announced that an increase of 5 per cent had been made in the rates of the New Zealand coastal trade. It is explained that this increase applies to all services on the New Zealand coast, apart from those operating to and from Gisborne. For cargo carried from Auckland to Gisborne the rates have not been increased, but 5 per cent has been added to the freight fates between, say, Auckland and Coast bays.
