OBITUARY
FIRST WHITE CHILD Mrs. Agnes Bamber. who died recently at her home at Gonville, Wanganui, had the distinction to be the first white child to be born at historic Waitangi. She was the eldest child of the late Mr. John Hamilton Irving, one of the first settlers in the Bay of Islands. Mrs. Bamber leaves two sons, Mr. R. Bamber, J.P., Wanganui River, and Mr. D. Bamber, Hunterville, and two daughters, Mesdames A. N. McLeod and H. G. Gemmel. Mrs. Nina Madeline Mac Lean died at her residence recently in Wanganui. For 13 years up to February, 1907, her husband was vicar of Christ Church, Wanganui. Mrs. Mac Lean is survived by one son, Air Vice-Mar-shal Cuthbert Trelawder Mac Lean. C.8.D.5.0., M.C., of the Royal Air Force, England, and two daughters. Miss Irene Mac Lean and Miss Dorothy Mac Lean. Mrs. Mac Lean’s youngest son, Eric Trelawder Mac Lean. died on active service on Gallipoli.
