“Lightning” Brandy.

A round of laughter was caused at a meeting of Hawke’s Bay Fruitgrowers in Hastings when Mr. A. Osborne, general manager of the New Zealand Fruitgrowers’ Federation, explained his opinion of apple brandy, Which he desetibed as a useful byproduct of the fruit industry in America. He was recounting experiences of a visit to America and Great Britain last year and recalled sampling this drink. In America, he said, they called it New Jersey lightning, and when the friend who introduced him m the drink had given him two glasses he quite appreciated the reason for the name.
