MARRIAGES DOUBLED

CHRISTCHURCH FIGURES The number of marriage licenses issued in Christchurch last month was more than double the total for September, 1938. Last month the number of licenses was 243 and the total for September, 1938, was 10G, Marriages by the registrar last month totalled 44, compared with 28 for the same period last year. A substantial increase is shown also in the number of births for the month, 249, compared with September of last year, 193. There were 133 deaths last month, compared with 194 in September, 1938.
