NO “PANIC PRICES”
AUSTRALIAN LAMB EXPORT ADVICE BY MEAT BOARD “Don't sell lambs at panic prices’’ is the advice to producers of the Australian Meat Board, which has been considering in Canberra terms of the contract to be made with the British Government. The board will make an announcement; about the contract as soon as possible. Its advice to growers is for the meantime.
“Growers may reasonably expect that, in general, the prices they should receive should certainly not be less than the Australian Equivalent of the London prices ruling immediately prior to the outbreak of war,' 'the board states.
"Furthermore, no serious shipping difficulties are anticipated in the immediate future. Similarly,” the board adds, “there is no cause for panic in respect to other classes of livestock for export.” The board's statement follows a warning by the president of the New South Wales Sheepbreedcrs’ Association. Mr. E. I. Body. He pointed out that the British wool purchase scheme included meat, and that growers should not make any arrangement to dispose of their clip or surplus sale sheep until details of the scheme were available.
