YESTERDAY’S WEDDING HOLDS'W ORTH—OEM ON D BRIDE IN IVORY SATIN A very pretty wedding of considerable interest both in Hawke’s Bay and the Gisborne district was solemnised in the Holy Trinity Church yesterday afternoon, when Shirley, youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John 11. Ormond, “Carmyllie," Gisborne, was married to James, only son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. HoldswoiTh, “Paringahau.” Puha.
The ceremony was performed by the Rev. J. D. G. ITodgson, To Karaka. and Mr. D. G. Dyer presided at the organ.
Decorations of delicate spring blossom, arum lilies and flowering currant formed a picturesque setting for the bridal group. The bride, who was escorted by her father, looked charming in a frock of ivory satin, exquisite in its simple elegance. The bodice, which was fastened down the front with tiny satin buttons and loops, showed a Peter Pan collar with a finely-corded edge, and long sleeves corded at the shoulder, the motif being repeated cn the inset belt. The skirt fell in soft lines in front and swept gracefully into a wide back panel attached below the waist with cartridge pleats and terminating in a long square-cut train.
'Her veil of beautiful Brussels lace, an heirloom in the bridegroom’s family, was caught to the head with a chaplet of orange blossom, and worn over the face on entering the church. A sheaf of white hyacinths, intermingled with maidenhair fern, was carried. Bridesmaid’s Lovely Frock The bride was attended by Miss Mona Blair, wearing a lovely frock pf misty pink chiffon mounted on matching taffetas banded with hyacinth blue lace. The bodice was fastened down the front with tiny buttons and loops and ornamented with a Peter Pan collar of blue lace. Lace cuffs also accented the short puff sleeves. The skirt was cut on swing lines and finished with a deep flounce. A picture hat of blue tulle was worn and a sheaf of pink and blue hyacinths completed the ensemble. Mr. John Dymock carried out the duties of best man. Informal Reception After the ceremony a small, delightfully informal reception was held at the home of the bride’s parents. The bride and bridegroom left later for their honeymoon, which is to be spent in Wellington.
The bride travelled in a tailored frock of petrel blue wooL cloque, accented with pin-tucks, and a collarless coat to match. A small hat of navy blue straw ornamented with a cluster of petrel blue flowers, and navy accessories completed the smart ensemble.
Mrs. Ormond, mother of the bride, wore a graceful ensemble of .black wool crepe and a hat of ballibuntal straw to match trimmed with white velvet roses and a veil just softening the edge of the brim. A bouquet of seasonal blooms in paste! Innings was carried. Mrs. Holdsworth, mother of the bridegroom, was wearing an elegs.Mt frock of embossed navy blue georgette, accented with a shoulder spray of delicate pink and mauve flowers, and a hat of matching straw. Her bouquet was composed of pink hyacinths and anemones in two shades of mauve and froesias. Mrs. C. M. Falkner, Rere, sister of the bride, was in a frock of navy bill* jersona, relieved with a large pale green corsage flower, and a hat to match. Mrs, T, J. Caesar, sister of the bride, wore a frock of black wool jersona ornamented with collar and cuffs of matching cire satin, and a large hat of black felt. Mrs. A. J. Stock, sister of tiie bride, chose a frock of fuchsia-coloured fiat crepe with navy blue trimmings and a large navy blue straw hat. Mrs. E. W. Nairn, Hawke’s Bay, aunt of the bridegroom, was wearing an ensemble of navy blue wool georgette with white accents, and a hat to match.
