Edgar Basil Oliver, aged 24, who had pleaded guilty in the'Police Court to obtaining, at Petone, a cheque for £147 from Minnie Katherine Henry, by falsely representing that a motor car on which he Owed £144 10s, was his property and unencumbered, whs granted 18 months probation by Mr. Justice Blair and ordered to pay the costs of the prosecution.
