DOMINION DAIRY PRODUCE COMPLETE OUTPUT NEGOTIATIONS PROCEED INDUSTRY’S CO-OPERATION (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. It was desirable the dairy industry ;hould know that representations had been made to the Government and vvliaf action was likely to be taken ;o that the present uncertainty could be overcome, said the chairman of the Dairy Board, Mr. W. E. Hale, yesterday.
Mr. Hale said that last, week there had been held in Wellington a meeting of the Dairy Industry Council.
The council had met the Minister of Marketing, the Hon. W. Nash, and, on behalf of the industry, had assured him of full co-operation with the Government in all measures designed to assist the Mother Country during ;.he war. The council further suggested that all questions previously in dispute between the Minister and the industry be held in abeyance until after the conclusion of hostilities, and outlined their views as to what the arrangements regarding the price to be paid to farmers this season should be and what they considered would be the best method of dealing with the dairy industry under the present changed conditions, so that the industry would render the greatest assistance in increasing food production.
Mr. Nash said that the whole of New Zealand’s dairy produce would be sold to the Imperial Government, with whom the New Zealand Government was now in touch.
“It may take some time to complete those negotiations,” added Mr. Hale, “but as soon as they are completed the Minister will make a full announcement.”
